The personal lines insurance agent performs a variety of daily administrative tasks such as creating and maintaining suspenses,  following up with clients and carriers to ensure task is completed, sell and bind policies, send out documents to clients after reviewing them, information gathering and other types of written and verbal communications while maintaining superior customer service and a positive attitude.



  • Meet my minimum weekly sales goal as agreed upon with manager.
  • Provide customer support in a friendly, prompt, and accurate manner.
  • Answer calls in a timely manner (within the same day).
  • Respond to customers’ insurance related questions and issues.
  • Learn and understand company insurance products.
  • Provide customers with detailed information about policies and products.
  • Quote, submit applications, and maintain client records.
  • Complete daily suspenses.
  • Attach and note the Agency Management System accurately and correctly.
  • Follow up with customers and carries in a timely manner.
  • Meet weekly production goals and objectives.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, prospective clients, and insurance companies.
  • Communicated any issues with customers or co-workers to your manager.


  • Take the initiative to get things done with the underwriters & carriers
  • Have a no-quit attitude to find solutions to write business
  • Competence to see gaps & fix problems with solutions
  • Have a positive, upbeat attitude along with determination to complete tasks with excellence
  • Negotiate on behalf of the client


  • Keep up with incoming phone calls and emails
  • Keep up with suspense for follow-ups and ongoing tasks
  • Communicate well with all clients, keeping them informed of progress
  • Handle all tasks appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Update & review AMS 360 to accurately reflect the policy
  • Be able to self-organize and date-set with numerous deadlines
  • Issue certificates of insurance
  • Make suspenses / follow-ups for every customer interaction or policy update

Skills & Abilities


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, computer literacy, general mathematics, & problem solving


  • Attend weekly personal lines meetings and provide input as needed
